Wednesday, April 24, 2002 - 08:16 p.m.

Wow, it's April already? I hadn't noticed... And once again, I fail to write in my blog at least once a week. Hopeless. So this is what I have been doing in the month of April:

1. Worked (and still working) at my pathetic part-time job. I spent so many hours this month at the store ringing people up and having heated discussions with my coworkers about what kinds of customers irritate us. (Basically, everyone. People who throw their money at us, people who eat the products before they buy them, people who are eating at the checkout line and talk with their mouth full, people who blame us when their credit card is not working, people who don't reprimand their noisy children (babies excluded), people on their cell phones, etc etc)

2. Went to a consulate in Los Angeles to get a passport. Got lost downtown. Went back a week later again to go pick it up. Got lost on the freeway. (I'm directionally challenged. Whoever said that when people start driving they develop a sense of direction was WRONG) ...Why don't they just mail the passports to us...? T_T;

3. Ran over a raccoon. At least, I think I ran over it. I was driving home from work (it was dark) and a raccoon darted out of the shrubbery so I braked really hard... and I think I hit it. T_T I looked back where the raccoon should've been lying but there was nothing (noone?) there... Positively shaking, I went home and wailed to my family that I hit a raccoon, and the responses I got were not sympathetic:

Dad: "Why don't you be more careful?"
Sister: "The raccoon probably crawled back into the bushes and it's twitching, slowly waiting for death to take it..."
Mom: "It'll come back and haunt you."

Animal lovers, please don't hate me... it took me about a month to recover from that tragedy. T_T; However, when I was finally getting over it, I watched a Ghibli film that made me want to throw myself into the compost heap: Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko, which features little tanukis(raccoon dogs? badgers? raccoons?) getting run over by trucks. *sob*

4. Got new glasses. Seriously considered getting contact lenses, but my budget and schedule did not allow it... sad. I spent a good deal of time looking for a frame that fit me, because I have a really low nosebridge. T_T# The curse of recessive genes!

5. Watched various Ghibli movies. My mother borrowed a whole bunch of tapes from her friend... I watched Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko (which I mentioned earlier), Grave of the Fireflies, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Princess Mononoke, all in one week. I love Ghibli films... XD Favorite random Ghibli lines:

"Hahahahaha! Hito ga gomi no youda!!" (Muska, Laputa)
"Sonata wa.... utsukushii...." (Ashitaka, Mononoke)
"Tobanai buta wa tada no buta..." "BAKA!" (Marco and Gina, Porco Russo)

My favorite is still Laputa, though. XD

6. April interests:

Kazehikaru: I'm still into Shinsegumi~ I half-forced Ryuuen-chan to read it too.
Mibu Gishi-den: Shinsengumi~. By the way, the Saito Hajime in this novel is too cool! XD
Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke: A PSX game by Alphasystem... weird, but fun and addicting!
NARUTO: Again. Every time a new volume comes out I get re-hooked. XD
Frogs: I dunno why...
